- Sally Conabere, The Picture Show Man, Australia, 1976. Can’t win ‘em all. Weaver was set for Lucy Lockhart opposite Rod Taylor, but the suits suddenly switched votes to Sally. Didn’t help the the film - or Sally. She remained a TV actress during 1971-1983. While Jacki was the Cate/Naomi/Nicole actress of her day, an important part of the 70s’ new Aussie wave: Stork, Alvin Purple, Petersen, Caddie and, of course, Picnic At Hanging Rock. Weaver had made 43 Aussie films before being discovered by Hollywood in 2010…with an immediate Oscar nomination for Silver Linings Playbook.
