The tall, balding Irishman, trained at Dublin’s Gate Theatre, was the perfect figure of authority - officers, policemen, bishops, governors, doctors and the like. Best recalled for his James Forsyte in The Forsyte Saga, and Sir Pitt Crawley in Vanity Fair. Can’t go wrong with a Crawley!
