- Jeremy Renner, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, 2010. The new M:I agent William Brandt was designed, everyone said, to succeed Tom Cruise when he tired of being Ethan Hunt. Paramount also checked out Woodstock-born Zegers (ah, but Woodstock, Ontario), Christopher Egan, Tom Hardy, Anthony Mackie and - already in the Paramount family due to the Star Trek franchise - Chris Pine. Renner was still around in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, 2014. But so was Cruise!
- Emile Hirsch, Bonnie & Clyde, TV, 2013. The loved-up bank robbers went from Hilary Duff and Zegers to Lindsay Pulsipher and Sean Faris to, finally, Holliday Grainger and Hirsch… in the first-ever mini-series simulcast across three channels: Lifetime, A&E and History. Neither one made us forget Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty.
