During Jaws 2, the make-up man Bob Jiras gave the young New York actor the Robert Cormier book to interest him in, maybe, playing the central, if glum teenager. “I loved it, really cool, which lead me to other books by the same author.” And he made the right decision. He passed on Cheese (unbearably slow) and turned director for The Chocolate War, 1988.
