- Michael Nouri, Flashdance, 1982. Two possible Nick Hurleys were musicians - Gene Simmons of the Kiss group and Geldof, creator of Live Aid. Director Adrian Lyne had been impressed his sole film, Alan Parker’s Pink Floyd: The Wall, 1981. Sir Bob was not… by Lyne or his script. Other potential Nicks were: Pierce Brosnan, Kevin Costner (runner-up to Nouri), Richard Gere, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Burt Reynolds, John Travolta… plus such surprises as De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci! At 36, Nouri was double the age of the flashdancing Jennifer Beals.
