Director Mitchell  Leisen  found  that his first MGMovie was given to Broadway's Call Me Madam find, more singer than actor and looking about 18 (at 28). His  test had been awful.  MGM's new production chief Dore Schary told Leisen: "Certainly feel sorry for you,  Dad."  "That," said Leisen, "was the kind of bastard he was."  He agreed to sacking Nype  after a week of his being "just chewed up and spat out"  by Ruth Roman. Her "bitchy little tricks" did not work on Ford.
