- Daniel Henney, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 2008. The Kenya-born Gathegi read for the superhuman mercenary Agent Zero. An X-Men fan, Henney loved being a villain. "There are no restrictions playing it, allowing you freely to express it, so you can act how you want to."
- Caleb Landry Jones, X-Men: First Class, 2010. Second time lucky. Gathegi read for Cassidy/Banshee - and won Darwin/Armando Muñoz… transforming into CGI gills and concrete skin. CLJ became Banshee - all ultrasonic screams, sonic bursts, blasts and sonic waves. Perfect, he said. "I've got red hair and freckles, I'm not gonna be Batman, Robin or Spider-Man."
