Adolfo Celi, The Borgias,  TV, 1981.   talian director Tinto Brass and scenarist Roberto Lertici wrote a film version in 1972 - with the Spanish star as Pope Alexander VI (born Rodrigo de Borgia). UK writer Wolf Mankowitz also worked ion the script despite complaining  to Variety that “Tinto wanted to make it even more bloody and more sexy, so he was coming up with things that the Borgias had never even thought of!   In a 2011 series, Jeremy Irons was  the Pope although  the real pontiff looked much more French comic Patrick Timsit.
