Bryan Singer, the frachise director (well, for two of the too many films in this weak series) changed his mind about Kay as Shadowcat/Kitty Pryde from X-Men, 1999 - and recast her with Stuart… dropped in turn by the incoming director Brett Ratner from the next chapter, X-Men: The Last Stand, 2005.
