The character’s name changed as often as the (three) women playing her but the role remained the same - the bailiff at a Manhattan tribunal dealing with the nightly haul of hookers, pimps, homeless and mental cases. Selma Diamond died, at 64, after two seasons as Selma Hacker. She was subbed by Florence Halop, who died, at 63, after 22 chapters as Florence Kleiner - when NBC decided on a younger actress, Marsha Warfield, for the final 163 episodes as Roz Russell.
