Lou Rawls (1922-2006)

  1. Charles Fleischer, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1987.        Frank Sinatra, no less, said Rawls had “the silkiest chops in the singing game…” Tough enough finding the right shamus to save the cartoon star’s career in Hollywood 1947 (when toons and humans lived cheek by cel). But who could play Benny The Cab. Well, Fleischer was handy - already voicing Greasy, Psycho and Roger Rabbit, himself in what critic Roger Ebert called “a joyous, giddy, goofy celebration of the kind of fun you can have with a movie camera.”
