- Irving Pichel, Jezebel, 1937. According to Warner’s detailed Daily Production and Progress Reports: De Briac (a French actor who made 135 Hollywood movies), Paul Boyer, Rafael Corio, Tony Paton and George Sorel tested for Huger. Paton won but was dropped after his first day in favour of Pichel. Warner’s $1.25m response to MGM’s Gone With The Wind opened on March 26, 1938 - the day I was born.
