Leslie Uggams Lynne Thigpen, Freedom To Speak, TV, 1982.    Chapter One: Uggams won the double  role of Sojourner Truth and Barbara Jordan.  Chapter Two: She would not say certain words in Sojourner's speeches, so Thigpen was given the role.  Chapter Three: Now Uggams  could not say some of Jodan’s words  (hyperbole, for example)… and so Thigpen finished with a dual role.  Copyright © 2023 Crawley's Casting Calls.
