- Bobby Driscoll, Treasure Island, 1949. Walt Disney’s original idea was to reunite David Lean’s Oliver Twist couple of young Davies and Robert Newton. He lost Davies (a future BBC-tv director) but Newton became, of course, the iconic pirate - Arrrgh! - Long John Silver. The Oscar-winning kid, Driscoll, also played Disney’s Peter Pan in one of the earliest Hollywood examples of performance-capture - his acting was filmed, then rotoscoped.
