Kevin McKidd

  1. Dave Legeno, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 2009.   The Scot was too busy in Hollywood making Grey’s Anatomy. His role of Dr Owen Hunt lasted 180 episodes during 2008-2016. He didn’t mind as he had no wish to scare his youngsters (Joseph, Iona, then nine and seven) in the make-up for the werewolf Fenrir Greyback. Legeno took over and, presumably, penned  his own IMDb bio… “A twin fisted existentialist, whose post-Nietzschian sensibilities reject the lantern of the cynic in a quest for a sun that leaves no shadow.”
  2. Chris Hemsworth, Thor, 2010.     What did he need a Marvel super-hero for?  He was already the most famous Scot since Sean Connery - due to TV’s Rome and Grey’s Anatomy. His agent had been talking turkey until Marvel thought franchise and went younger - “reconceptualising,” said the now Americanised McKidd, UK director Kenneth Branagh saw it all as a Norse comic-book twist on Wim Wenders’ Der Himmel über Berlin, 1987.  Oh, really!
