1. - Leo G Carroll, The Man  From UNCLE, TV, 1964-68. “Get rid of the foreign guy” said NBC, referring to David McCallum’s hero,  Ilya Kuryakin.   MGM-TV thought the network meant Kuluva at the UNCLE chief  and quickly swopped him with Hitchcock’s favourite actor (Carroll made six Hitch films, more than any other actor), as  the new M - or Number One of Section One of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement.
