Kristen Bell

  1. Allison Mack, Smallville, TV, 2001-2008.   Despite being the titular star of the hit series Veronica Mars, 2004-07, Bell auditioned for the less than lead role of Chloe Sullivan in the Superboy chronicles. Went into Heroes and Gossip Girl, instead.
  2. Katie Cassidy, Supernatural, TV, 2005-2018.  As a sort of back-handed compliment, the witch Ruby  - well, ex-witch and good demon! - was written for Kristen but didn’t ring any bells. Enter: Katie, daughter of 70s’ pop singer David Cassidy (of The Partridge Family). Ruby led her to other series gigs in Harper’s Island, Melrose Place, Gossip Girl, Arrowbetween 2009-2014… but not her father’s Ruby & The Rockit, co-created by his half-brother Shaun and featuring hisbrother,  Patrick.
  3. Bell Mandy Moore, Tangled, 2009.   Kristen and Idina Menzel lost Rapunzel  two years before co-starring as royal sisters in this $1bn dollar Disney smash, Frozen, 2012, when Bell finally achieved her life’s ambition of being a Disney heroine by winning Princess Anna. Her own home recordings of Little Mermaid songs convinced Disney’s first woman director, Jennifer Lee, that she had the perfect Anna voice.  And posture… “I always loved Disney animation, but there was something about the females that was unattainable to me. Their posture was too good and they were too well-spoken, and I feel like I really made this girl much more relateable [sic] and weirder and scrappier and more excitable and awkward. I'm really proud of that."   Also in the frame for Disney's 50th toon feature: Kristin Chenoweth, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon. “Being a Disney Princess,” said Mandy, “is every girl's ultimate dream.”  Bell achieved her dream with Anna in  #51, Frozen, 2012.
  4. Amy Adams, Man of Steel, 2011.
  5. Jena Malone, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 2012.
  6. Leighton Meester, Life Partners, 2013.    Battle of the  bulges… Bell was attached to Sasha when she proved pregnant.  Evan Rachel Wood took over and  - preggers, as well!
