- LeVar Burton, Star Trek: The Next Generation, 1987. The role of Geordi LaForge came down to Russ and Burton. Russ was not forgotten. He joined the Star Trek: Voyager crew, 1995-2001, as the Vulcan officer Tuvok. And indeed remains the sole star Trekkie to have co-starred with all the first four captains: William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew.
